2 weeks old

Yesterday my little Cooper Monster turned 2 full weeks old. I can't believe I have a baby, a healthy beautiful 2 week old baby boy. He's so dang precious. We went to the pedi to see how he's doing. Guess what!!!! Our little man grew oh yes he did. To our surprise he not only gained back his birth weight but he also gained an extra 6 Oz's on top of that. I'm so proud of him. Apparently he's definitely getting enough breast milk. We did talk to the doctor about his eating habits but with him over achieving and gaining more than the expected weight in just 9 days we really aren't as concerned with the fact that it doesn't always seem like he's eating as much. Now if only I could get him to sleep more at night, we would be just great. Everything looked great though at his appointment and we were cleared to give him real baths instead of sponge baths. I will post a picture of this first real bath because it was so funny. Cooper was all upset because we took his clothes of. He sure does hate being without warm toasty clothes on. We slipped his little feet into his warm bath and immediately he turned to silly puddy. His entire body went limp, he sat like a puddle of a person his legs literally floating on top of the water. He had a look on his face that could only mean pure comfort and joy. He seemed as though we had slipped him some codeine or something, he looked drugged. It was so funny. My mom (who is still visiting) was laughing so hard saying that out of all the babies she's seen in the bath she's never seen one act quite like this. We all three (my hubby, mom and I) laughed as we bathed him.

I unfortunately didn't have any pictures of him that showed truly how funny this was that aren't inapropriate for me to post. I'm not comfortable with having the pics of my son naked and spread eagle posted for the world to see although those are the hilariouse pics that showed his little floating frog legs and euphoric expression on his face. So I chose this picture of me washing him instead. It doesn't capture how funny he was but isn't he so dang cute either way!!!

He looks adorable and very relaxed in the bathtub! He probably thought he was back in the womb and was sure happy about it! BTW, you are positively beaming in the photo - what a proud Mama!

What a cutie pie! How great is it that he loves a bath?! We have a lover and a hater, and boy does Em love to let you know just how much she hates her bath, and being naked, and you taking too long to put her clothes back on! Wishing you lots of sleep!

I am so glad that you're little man is gaining so much weight, he'll be a ball of rolls in no time:) I hope that calms your nerves about breastfeeding, it sounds like you are doing great! You are truly glowing, motherhood suites you very well. My little boy was just like Cooper in the bath, he loves it, which is a lifesaver when he gets fussy - we put him in the tub and he could sit in there for hours (of course I don't, but he would)

Ahh you look so beautiful and stylish! He is so precious! You look so happy and I am so glad that he is a happy healthy growing little boy. See he's getting plenty of milk...everyone feels the same way at first. Now to get little man to sleep at night..haha. That was my mission for a while too! Have a wonderful weekend dear!

I am a friend of Lindsay's and I just want to tell you that BFing is hard at first but hang in there it will become much much easier. I Bf my first for 13 1/2 months and am now BFing my second and he is 7 months old. He weighs 20 1/2 pounds. My second nursed every 2 hours around the clock until 3ish months. Those days are now a memory, he is sleeping 12 hours at night! Bfing can be exhausting, but I promise you will look back in a few months and think wow, what a journey. You both are learning and once you both get the hang out it and becomes like tying your shoes. Good luck and if you ever need any help, send me an email! michellepeden@sbcglobal.net

What a cutie! Glad he enjoys the warmth of the water...it's cold without clothes on!

Also glad to hear that feeding is going well. I know it seems like a lot of work...AND IT IS. But you just need to be confident in yourself AND do what's right for you.

I read that you will be going back to work soon...do what works best for you. If you want to pump and that works for you, GREAT. But if it doesn't (or, as if in my case, you need to supplement with formula, it's not the end of the world).

I am a huge advocate of breast-feeding, but I am also an advocate of doing what's best for baby AND MOM. With Mary, I really beat myself up over not being able to pump enough to provide bottles for the sitter. With Ben, I didn't lose as much sleep over it!

Both of my kiddos were primarily nursers, but were also supplemented with formula. They are both healthy and happy today!

Would things have been different had I not worked outside of the home, probably, but things were what they were.

If you have any questions or concerns about the working/nursing thing, email me. My contact info is on my blog. I also have several good lit resources that I can recommend to you about nursing and working.

From in vitro blessed mommy to another,

Valerie
