Walking and teething with a little attitude sprinkled on top.

This week has been a wirl wind of crazy! Crazy in a good way I would say.
Cooper started walking late last week as most of you read on my last post. He is still practicing his new walking but at the same time he still enjoys to crawl. There is no forcing him to walk. We have tried to get him to do it multiple times for people when they come over and he refuses. Then randomly as he's playing he'll just walk across the room. I should have knows my little independent man would only do it when he wanted to. :)
Monday Coopers very first tooth popped through his gums. Bottom right! We are so happy for him because he seemed unfazed by the whole thing. Number two tooth might be a different story but this first one came in smoothly and without fever, diarrhea and not much crankiness at all.
As far as the attitude I mentioned in the title of this post. Well you might remember me talking about his very persistent, determined, independent nature. He is always wanting to do things and its not that he won't let us help him. He just won't do it unless he wants to do it. There is no changing his mind once he zero's in on something he wants or wants to do.
Trying to get him to walk for a family member or friend is so NOT happening. He refuses to do it. He only walks when he wants to. If we try to coerce him into walking he will scream and wiggle until he's on the floor crawling away. So we don't try to make him walk. We just let him do it on his own.
He is getting into everything and he smiles at us coyly when we tell him no. He understands what no means. No doubt about it. He seems to think its funny to see us come running over to redirect him and tell him "no".
I love my little Coopster you all know I do more than anything in this entire world. But boy does he have a temper and when he does smile at me when he's in trouble I don't know whether to laugh or fume! Usually I do a little of both. Trying to figure out a better way to help him to understand that he can't have what he wants, Or he can't do what he's doing.
I call him the "Coopy Monster" sometimes. It fits his little crazy personality. I love his independence and drive even though sometimes he is a little defiant and it makes mommy a little mad. But he also has a super sweet cuddly loving side as well. He smiles such a sweet little smile and he's always so happy. He's really good tempered most of the time, he loves going out in public and people watching.
I am very much like Cooper in the attitude department. I have a happy nice side but I can be very opinionated and strong willed. Its sort of a downfall I see in myself sometimes. I feel like any time I'm having a conversation about something I disagree about. I have to watch what and say and make sure I don't say things in a bitchy way and not even really realize it. (This does happen sometimes). I've really worked hard the past 5 years or so to make myself a better person and be less moody. Having cysts and hormonal problems have certainly not helped with this goal but I do believe I'm much better than I used to be.

Be yourself. Above all, let who you are, what you are, what you believe, shine through every sentence you write, every piece you finish.

Anyways. My point is, I get Cooper. He is a perfect mixture of my personality and my husbands. He dances and moves like his mama. He has a stubborn sense and attitude like his mama, He has a calm easy going laid back attitude sometimes like his daddy. He's never high strung or hyperactive. Just busy.
We love him and all his fun pieces of his personality. Its amazing to watch him grow and become who is.

No pictures today. Sorry! But I might post tonight or tomorrow night some. I took a ton the past few days but don't have my camera with me (I'm at work.. shhh).

We are going to a wedding tomorrow night. My husband is a groomsman for a very longtime good friend of his. Pictures to come.

Have a great day :)

So amazing that he's at an age where you can see both you and your husband's personality shining through. I look so forward to that!

I really enjoyed this post. Sometimes blogs I read are all sunshine and rainbows, but we all are annoyed by our little ones here and there.

Alex does that too where I don't know if I should start bawling because I am so mad at her but she gives me that sweet little look or says something funny all of a sudden and I can't help but laugh.

Glad he is walking, love that he only does it when HE wants to :)

It's cute how you described "Coopy Monster". I can't wait to have kids and watch them turn into Adam & I :)

It's fun to see how his personality is a mixture of the two of you! He's got to be one of the cutest kids ever...yay to him for getting his first tooth!

Yay for his first tooth! Randi was the same way with her first, didn't bother her much either and she still only has just one. I love your little nickname for him, Coopy Monster. Cracked me up.

I feel like I just read about Brayden; he only wants to do what he wants when he wants to & as much as I love that he is his own person that coy little mischievous grin makes me think that we are really going to have our hands full in his pre-teen & teenage years.........I always tell Lance all we can do is love him & make sure that we try to show him just how much & PRAY that he grows out of some of his little temperamental ways :)

I love this post ... you're so good at putting your feelings and thoughts into words. And, you're right, Cooper's personality is a perfect combination of both yours and Julian's. It will be great to have these posts to look back on as he grows and changes. Can't wait to see Coop walk! (Of course, when he's ready to put on a show for us.) :)

I love your little nickname for him haha, Coopy Monster. How cute. It seems like every baby I know does the same thing when you tell him or her no... just kind of smiles thinking, YES! I got her attention! :)

Hopefully his 2nd tooth comes in as easily as his 1st did! :)

Finally! A tooth. Adalyn is still toothless :) That is great that Cooper did so well with the first one though, hopefully all the others won't be so bad either.

I still can't believe he is walking. Crazy.

I know exactly what you are talking about with the perfect mixture. I feel the same way with our kids. Although sometimes I will just see my husband in Hayd!

I completely get where you are coming from with this. Our little Ms. R has a mind of her own yet she is so sweet and cuddles with me until I want to melt. It can be so frustrating. My hubby just keeps telling ... above all show them LOVE...which seems like a no brainer, but at times it is so tough when they TEST us!! I just ran into a mom with 4 year old twin girls and she says that 4 is the hardest age!! WHAT!!!>!>!> I think "now" is the hardest no matter where we are at....6 months or 16! Love em' to bits, but it's not easy being a mama all the time. You are doing the very best you can. :)

I think Mason and Cooper are so much alike! Mason is very independent too. He has quite the temper on him too but is usually a very happy baby! He <3 people!

I have a tendency to sound bitchy sometimes too. I think it's just my personality I'm a little abrupt at times. I tell it like it is.

P.S. I'm listening to like a prayer on your blog and I LOVE IT!

Enjoy the wedding! :)

Watching their personalities grow and blossom is fun and I'm pretty sure they ALL go through that attitude and temper thing at some point. GG has a little temper too and is stubborn as a mule at times (she gets both fabulous traits from me!)...

Probably have mentioned it before but have you tried Hyland's homeopathic teething tablets? I swear by these suckers and am never caught without at least one extra bottle in my medicine cabinet!

Can't wait to see pics! Hope the wedding was a blast!

You know when Miss Priss was an itty bitty tootsie pop, and we would go over to my friends with older kids houses. They were around 18-24+months and I though....what in the world, all these kiddos and little fits and attitudes...oh my daughter will never act like this!! BOY..was I wrong! But like you said they are a perfect mittle mixture of us! And that's pretty awesome! I feel ya on the attitude, man does Averee have ONE! But you know, it's just part of the road! Speed bumps and all.....it's beautiful! xoxo

How exciting! It is hard to get them to "perform" on demand sometimes. Wow, I didn't realize he's just now getting his 1st tooth! My kids were/are early teethers. Riley got his first tooth at 4 months & Averly has her 1st one popping through right now at almost 5 months. Poor baby hasn't handled it as well as it sounds like Cooper has! Way to go big boy!
