36 days! That isn't very many days at all. In just 6 days it will be in the 20's. I guess I can't believe we are this close! We will be starting our 35th week of pregnancy tomorrow. My big goal was 37 so I could be full term and as of right now its looking good. I just can't believe how fast all of this has gone by. What do I need to do and when? I'm not quite sure when and how to start to truly prepare myself for whats to come in the next month. I haven't packed my own bag, Mainly because I have no idea when I should and as far as "feeling" like its time, I don't. I just don't feel like this baby is coming anytime soon and I'd rather him not although I can't wait to meet him and have him here I want him as healthy as possible.
So my question to anyone who like to help me out and answer is, when is truly a good time to start packing? What do I need? What do I need for him?
Oh and also my doctor told me last week "the baby is head down but has not gone down into my pelvis yet". I don't know why I don't ask questions when I'm in there and then later I think "hmmm I wonder what the heck he meant", does that mean it won't happen anytime soon? Does it mean we have plenty of time? This coming Friday we go in and have our first Vaginal exam since my first 10 weeks of pregnancy. I know he will do some measuring and checking then. He will also be measuring the baby.
Please pray for us, mainly that the baby is growing and is healthy :).
So what does it mean exactly if they haven't dropped into your pelvis? How long before birth does that happen?
I could have googled these questions but honestly you ladies are far more knowledgable and helpful than those random websites I pull up.

You can check out my page for my hospital bag must-haves :)
It'll be here before you know it! I have a feeling you'll still be a while though. weeks is still early and Coop has lots more growing to do. Hang in there!
Girl, it will be here before you know it really.
I had my bags packed for awhile because we just didn't know when he was going to come because I was dialted 1 at 34 weeks but they ended up inducing at 36 due to a horrible rash/complications I had. That is good that he is head down that means he is in the ready position but Brody was head down at like 28 weeks.. they can be head down for awhile... but when they move in to the pelvic region is when things will start happening!! Good luck on friday! They will know things then!!!!! :) Prayers that he is growing!!
I bet you have lots of questions and are starting to freak just a little. I was lucky and I started to loose my mucus plug with Alex. It freaked me out so I called the Dr. and they told me what it was. Once you loose that its a good sign things are getting started. But not all women notice they loose it or loose it?
If the babys head is down thats great, exactly how you want it. You will feel it more once he is down in your pelxic area.
I also started to dialate early with Alex and that made me even more anxious because you never know how long things will take.
If you want to pack you bag now, or things that are needed. I wore comfy vs pants and tank tops the entire time. I didn't get dressed up for any guests, I showered but never did my hair or make up. I might this time around for pictures but I just wanted to enjoy my baby and get as much rest as I could before brining her home.
I didn't bring anything really for Alex except for her coming home outfit and I wish I would have. Just cute sleepers instead of white onsies. Or something more fun for her to wear ( not that she knew ).
Hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions.
Thinking about you as always! Can't wait for this little man to make his way into this world!
Time is getting SO close even if you don't really feel like it is! Have you went into your "nesting" mode yet? I've heard that women do that right before it's time too. Coop being head down is a huge plus for progress to start soon. It can start up at anytime, all pregnancies and babies are different. Good luck on Friday I'll be excited to hear your new updates on him!
I feel so out of the loop on baby needs being that Charli is three years now or else I would give bag essential advice! haha. I just know that now if I ever experience it again I will be looking cute during labor (or trying too) and during the hospital stay!
Ahhh so much to answer. Him not being in your pelvis is really just a throw away comment. The baby can drop down at anytime. What you need is for the baby to engage or "get stuck" which is what will put pressure on your cervix to dilate. With my twins, Emma was in my pelvis sitting on my cervix from 24 weeks if I remember correctly. My water didn't break till 32 weeks! It all depends on the baby.
I would start getting my bag together, no rush to finish. We went early at 32 weeks with nothing together. What a mess DH was running around with my water gush out on the bedroom floor! Think of it like packing for a small trip.
Comfy clothes! REPEAT! COMFY! Comfy and loose. Pajama pants, sweats, and nursing tops if you're nursing. I had a c-section and bought a pack of granny panties which aren't sexy at all but covered what needed to and held the huge pads they give you. Otherwise they give you the mesh throw away hospital panties which are completely uncomfortable!
Your own toiletries. Emphasis on toothbrush/toothpaste/gum/mints. Deodorant because you'll still be hotter than everyone else. I use hair ties all the time and I also had a bandana since I wasn't able to shower right away and being in bed for so long with out a shower left my hair a mess!
Chapstick! Ice chips only carry you so far.
Tissues ( and toilet paper if you're picky) because the hospital air is dry and their excuse for tissues won't cut it, especially if you're sensitive.
If you're lucky enough to receive massages, some scented lotion. My husband rubbed my feet during our stay and it was heaven!
Snacks. Hospital food is awful and over priced, eating out is expensive and I felt bad send my husband out. He had to keep paying for parking and didn't want to leave the girls but couldn't tell me no!
All Coop will need is his coming home outfit, and some onesies. He'll be wrapped up tight while you're in the hospital so any clothes you bring him you probably won't use. The hospital has tons of diapers, wipes and receiving/swaddle blankets. You might want to bring an extra swaddle blanket or two to roll up and wrap around the head rest if the car seat you have doesn't have the infant insert or his head is still rolling around. We had to shove some blankets around our girls' heads to keep them in place, even with the infant head rest.
An extra bag. They say take everything that isn't nailed down, but even if you don't you'll still need an extra bag to carry home everything they give you and receive.
I can't wait to hear Friday's report!
Wow! Just a month left until you meet this special little guy!! I am so excited for you. I hope your appointment Friday goes well. Don't be disappointed though if nothing is going on down there. Sometimes it doesn't happen until the last minute. First time pregnancies usually work like this. The cervix will start to thin out before dilation occurs. If you are just a fingertip or 1 then that's okay. You may or may not notice a difference in your breathing once the baby drops and then again he may not drop until labor. Everyone is so different it's hard to say when things will happen. As far as the bag goes, I would recommend you go ahead and start getting things together while you have the time to think about what you want. Just like everyone else said, comfy is the way to go. All you need for the baby is something for him to wear home. For you though make sure you have your clothes of course, a nursing bra, bathroom stuff, if you want to take a shower with a full size towel bring your own. The hospitals only have those little ones. Slippers are great to have too! Anything that makes you feel at home. Take your pillow if you want, I know I did for all of mine. Good luck and can't wait to hear more with each appointment.
Hmmm... I'll try and make this short. They all gave great advice and since I am a first time mommy too, I learned a lot.
I packed my bags at 35 weeks just because I knew I would think of things to add as the weeks went on. I packed a few pair of comfy pants, slippers, nursing bra/tops and a whole pack of granny panties. I also had my hubby pull out a Button Up shirt that I could wear. I was told that it would be great to have on hand for nursing and when guests come in, etc.
I packed Kyah a coming home outfit and a blanket (more for coming home). I was told that the hospital will have everything I need so I figured that would keep my load down. I already feel like I have packed enough to move in for a few years.
Then there are the essentials: (for me)... chapstick, eye make-up remover, shampoo/conditioner, etc. I just raided the travel section in Target.
AND as for the baby dropping... Kyah was head down for weeks (which is great) before he dropped. At my 36 weeks appointment they said that they could feel his head. I guess that meant that it engaged (to some extent) at that point.
Hope that helps! Can't wait to see Cooper!
Aw wow so close, moving right along my dear. But don't be sad if there isn't much going on down there at the next Dr. appt. Everyone is so different. I didn't pack my bag until the night of, but that's because I started having contractions and still had 3 days until my next appt. Oops! So I say go ahead a start a bag at least. I bought some really comfy pjs, with really elastic waist and button down top. Take a nursing bra. Take slippers because they will make you walk the halls and you want to be comfy as possible. Take your own pillow. Bathroom things. Just take an outfit for him to wear home, he'll be in a white onesie and blankets in the hospital. So exciting!!! You'll do great! Can't wait to see picts of Mr. Man
Well, I guess my situation was the best reason why packing early is a good idea :) - one minute we are walking around the neighbouring streets, enjoying watching a filming of a movie, a couple hours later my waters break and I'm getting ready to go have that long awaited baby (he arried not long after and at 37 weeks... ). :) I was happy I had the bag packed, because that would be the last thing I would be able to concentrate on, packing up... Take some pj's (ones that allow for breastfeeding easily, if you're planning to do that), a house coat, slippers, a few snacks for you and hubby, I even had some music with me to listen to quietly, anything that could give you comfort in before and after time. As for the baby, try to take a few various size outfits, I thankfully packed up a couple bigger and smaller outfits (those big ones ended up being way too big, as my guy was born on the smallish side), lots of receiving blankets (they get dirthy with baby burps quickly :) ), diapers (ours were provided by the hospital) - those are some of the things I remember having used.
Yeheyy, you're getting close, it won't be long now. :) Most importantly, relax! It'll be a long time of sleepless nights coming, so taking it easy is super important (I really regretting not chilling out more before giving birth, the first weeks were hard without too much sleeping). Awesome times coming though!!! :)
You will do great girl, I was really nervous too though!!!! It's normal but it will be the most amazing experience of your life!! If you have any questions about any of the process good or bad feel free to e-mail me or anything!!! lealemaster@hotmail.com
35 days...you are almost there!! How exciting! Try to get some rest (because you know you won't be getting any once Cooper arrives!). I had my son at 37 weeks, so make sure you are packed and ready. Things to make sure you don't forget: comfy jammies and robe (for all of your visitors to see you in!), camera charger (just in case), boppy pillow (if you are nursing), and LOTS of extra baby outfits (as people forget to tell you little boys pretty much wee-wee everytime you try to change them, so they tend to go through many outfits within a few days in the beggining!). Best wishes and am thinking about you.
Don't pack too early...you'll get get anxious looking at the bag and wondering when baby will arrive! ;) Plus, if you're like me, you'll be in labor for a while at home and will have plenty of time to pack then. I am a light packer and found I didn't need much in the hospital. I brought a change of pjs for me and an outfit for baby, a little make-up, a book and that was about it. Oh, camera and camcorder of course! Pretty much the hospital supplies everything else.
Head down but not in the pelvis just means baby is high up there but in the best position for when labor starts. Once they are head down at about 34 or 35 weeks they pretty much stay that way which is a great thing! But it really doesn't have any indication as to when labor can or will start! Hang in there...it sounds like you're doing absolutely fabulous!
I was packed at about 35 weeks! Just in case, but my doctor also kept telling me that she might be seeing me soon! Ha, soon, 41 weeks total!!! As for in your pelvis, you will know when he is there, enjoy your comfort now! But I do remember it not be to long of the super uncomfortable part! So I guess that is a good sign of getting closer! (everyone is totally different!
I just love following your blog and think about you and your little guy often. My sister-in-law has been trying to get pregnant for over a year and a half now and she also has PCOS. She has been getting pretty down since all of her girlfriends are getting pregnant, she's tried rounds of clomid, and is meeting with a fertility specialist tomorrow for more options. How long did you try before you got pregnant? I want to give her some encouraging words, but sometimes there is nothing you can say to help. Would love to keep in touch by email if thats easier too (and I understand if you don't have time because you are preparing for Mr. Cooper to arrive soon! :) ). Just in case, my email is megstevens924@yahoo.com. Hope your next Dr. apt goes well and look forward to updates. You are in my prayers and I hope nothing but the best for your family!
Hey girl!
Yea, I feed Brody a lot without his clothes on but not always.. He is a messy eater and I'm a messy feeder..lol we just have fun! I got my high chair at one of my showers and I thought it is going to be forever when I use this but I started using it when Brody was about 5 months old. He didn't start totally sitting up by himself until he was 6 1/2 months but they can sit in the highchair when they have good head support! I would sit him in it and he would play with little toys and then I started baby food around 6 months. He loves it, to eat in and to just sit and play in too!
