Lake time

We made plans this weekend to go visit my family. However Julian ended up finding out Friday he was going to be on call all weekend :( I was prepared to tell my family we weren't coming, but Julian insisted I go with Cooper and enjoy the weekend. (I think he secretly wanted some no baby, no wife relaxation daddy time). So off to my parents Coopy and I went. My dad ended up coming to my house to help Julian with some outdoor things he was working on. So it was just my brothers, my mom, my sis in law and my niece that we got to see.

We had a great day, we went to a baby shower and then met up with my brother for lunch. My mom, sister in law and I went shopping after lunch while my brother watched his daughter Natalie and Cooper. That was so nice of him.
We went to Target. I got some really cute summer clothes. :)
Saturday afternoon we all went out on my brothers boat. It was so much fun. I was really nervous and uneasy about taking Cooper out on a boat but my sis in law had a life jacket that my niece wore when she was teeny tiny and it fit Cooper perfectly. My brother Matt of course is very responsible and careful so I trust him. Off we went.
Cooper LOVED it. He was smiling at the water, coo-ing, and occasionally he would let out a little giggle to himself while watching the water move from behind the boat. Off course I had a good grip on him at all times. I hooked my wrist into his life vest so if for any reason I need a good hold on him I had one. (I know, paranoid much????).
Anyways we had a great time. My brother, Jamie and I tried the new "wake skate" that they got. In case you don't know what this is, its like a boogy board but it doesn't have any ankle and foot straps to hold your foot onto it. Its basically a skateboard with no wheels. They just got it this summer so we were all trying it out. I got up on my first try but let me just tell you, it was awkward. I think just knowing that my feet were free freaked me out. I fell a few times of course, and on my last try I for whatever reason couldn't even stand up. I got up, but instead of standing I stayed in my crouched position. Here I am being pulled by the boat in sitting position on a skateboard and I can't get myself to stand up. I knew if I did I would fall, So I just sort of stayed there like that all crouched low to the board for a while cruising along :). My mom was cracking up, I'm sure I looked absolutely ridiculous.

Here are a few of the weekend shots....

Jamie, Natalie, Cooper and I
Uncle Matty and Coop
Mommy and Coop, he's checking how cold the water is...
Hanging with his best friend and cousin Nat.
Loving the sun.
Cooper and Grandma

Cooper sure did miss his daddy. When we got home Sunday they played outside. Cooper was all smiles and loved seeing dad. But he was also all about the dirt we are using to back fill a wall we just built. He kept trying to eat the dirt. So yes we popped in the pacifier as a deterrent. I didn't want him to eat mud!

Such cute pictures of Mr. Cooper!

I know exactly how you feel...it took me quite a while to get over the fear of taking the littles out on the boat. I'm still extra cautious. Now that I've got walkers...i.e. preschoolers they have to have life jackets the minute they exit the truck and before stepping foot onto the dock. I don't care that the water is only a foot deep at first...it takes less to drown than that!

So glad you were still able to get away. Family time is always enjoyable!

Love the little life jacket! You go girl on the wake skate! I could never do that! I have never tried but I don't think I could even wake board! I'm good with just hanging out on the boat & occasionally skiing. What a pretty (and young!) grandma Cooper has!
