Today we went to the doc. We had good news and bad news. The good news is that baby Cooper is doing great. Growing fast and healthy with a great heartbeat. They said he's 6" long!! That's so tiny yet I feel like he's so big. We go back in three weeks for our next check up.
The bad news is that my placenta previa problem isn't getting better. They were hoping it would fix itself by now, I still have time for it to rise more but my doctor told me today that it hardly moved since my last appt. This basically means that even if it does start to raise up a little in the next few months it will still be too low. So I will have placenta previa all the way up to childbirth. And most likely have to have a c-section. I'm fine with all of this as long as my baby is healthy and stays inside of me as long as he possibly needs to in order to be born healthy and ready to live in this world. I just don't like going into it all knowing we could have issues. So I'll keep praying about it.
I asked my doc if I'm allowed to eat Hot dogs and lunch meat because baby center tells you at week 12 I think??? That you should not eat cold lunch meat due to the listeria in it. I asked my doctor and he said as long as its fresh its fine. Also that hot dogs are fine as well. That makes me happy, I really wanted some coney's the other day. Now I can have some.
As far as me and how I'm feeling I'm doing good. My ribs are still hurting due to my small upper body but its worth it to know he's growing and that's why they hurt. Other than my ribs I'm feeling OK, minus the occasional strange twinge. We also just settled the whole childcare issues out yesterday. Our Nana and aunt are going to watch him every day. So he's with people we know and love and I feel really good about that. I don't mind daycare because I worked at one and truly loved the kids I had but I would rather take him later when he needs the interaction with other kids than now when he's 6 weeks old. So this will be a good choice I think. Considering the cost of sending him to a good learning center I'm happy with keeping him with family. Yikes that crap is expensive. Its near the same as my monthly house payment.
We are also going to start our payments on the furniture tonight. I'm SO EXCITED. We will get it in 90 days after the layaway. We decided to do it this way to spread the money out a bit.
Thanks for all your support girls. Its really special to me to have this blog and all these fabulous women to support you along the way.

I'm glad to hear Cooper is doing well. I hate to break it to you about the lunchmeat and hotdogs but your doctor is wrong. Fresh has nothing to do with it. Listeria is the only bacteria that grows at cold temperatures. So basically if you heat your lunchmeat and hotdogs to steaming hot you will be fine. (I'm a dietitian so I've had many courses on food safety) Basically your good to go on the coney dogs if they are nice and hot :)
I wouldn't worry about the lysteria as your doctor said. You have the same chance of getting it while not pregnant as you do while you are. Some say simply nuke the meat for a bit in the microwave to kill anything that "might" be in there. I was really hoping the placenta would "fix" itself but I'm sure you'll be more than closely montiored, so try your best not to worry if you can. Everything else sounds fantastic! Keep up the good job of growing that baby!!!
It sounds like you got more good news than bad - the lunchmeat and hot dog "okay" is a real bonus! :) My girlfriend had placenta previa and carried her baby to term and had a vaginal delivery. I think doctors tell us too much. They make us crazy in order to avoid lawsuits.
Thinking of you and so happy that baby Cooper is doing well!
stumbled across your blog and wanted to say congrats on getting this far and don't worry too much about the placenta previa, as much as we pregnant girls can't really change much as far as things like that are concerned, there is still lots of time - my placenta, for example, moved over 5 cm within just a few weeks, but that wasn't until I was close to 28 or so weeks that it really started going up! so don't worry and the future will show how it all goes!
good luck!
hot dogs and lunch meat okay? i need to ask my doc because i miss both so much!!
I had placenta previa with my son. It was scary, but my c-section went fine and I had a natural birth with my daughter 2 years later.
