Ask away

I've seen on a few blogs where people allow you to ask questions. And then in another post you answer their questions. So I decided because I enjoy reading about these people and hearing their answers that I would do this on my blog as well.

So now is the time. Ask away. Anything you would like to know I will share.

Video Camera advice.

We are wanting to buy a new video camera. We don't have one and our regular camera does but the microphone is messed up. We want to be able to have these memories to watch one day. I figured I could go online and search whats the most popular brand. But I thought most of you probably have a video camera and could tell me if you like it and why and what the brand is or if you dislike what you bought. Any advice ladies before we go buy one?

I appreciate any tips or info you want to give. We are planning on getting one in the medium price range.

Thanks,
Melissa

Getting ready to hit the road to go to grandma and papa's house.

6 weeks and 3 days old. That's how old my son was the first time he smiled back at me and his daddy. We got to see this together, experience it together for the first time. It was Halloween day and we were in Norman visiting my parents and my mom was holding Cooper on the couch talking to him. I decided to go join her so we both sat talking and smiling at him and suddenly a corner of his mouth went up. I screamed for Julian to come join us and I told him that It looked like he wanted to smile at us. We all three talked and smiled and sure enough he looked at us and then suddenly a huge smile came across his face. Followed by many others in the seconds following. It was the most beautiful little smile I've ever seen in my life. This is the first time he's ever responded to us with a smile. It was such a great experience. None of us could get up though to go get our camera so we were unable to capture the first smiles on a picture or video. We will be keeping it near so we can get it soon though and share it with everyone.

Halloween was fun. My husband went to the OU game with my brother and my parents and Aunt, Cousin and I and Coop stayed home and watched it on tv. We had a great night hanging out with everyone and towards the end of the night we put Cooper in his costume. He was a giraffe. SO CUTE. He looked so cuddly and sweet. We took a few pictures and then it was time for bed for him so we had to take him out of it for bath time and night night.
Norman didn't do Halloween Saturday night. Since the big college OU football game was going on that evening the city of Norman changed the holiday to Friday night. It was weird because we weren't there on Friday night and then Saturday night wasn't Halloween there so we sort of missed Halloween this year. I didn't get to see any cutie pie kids coming up to the door saying TWICK OR TWEET! I'm sort of sad but oh well. Next year Julian and I will take Cooper to a few houses by ours and it will feel like a real Halloween.

We did have a great weekend though with my parents. Since I love to share pictures with everyone here are a few pics of our weekend.

6 weeks and back to work

Today our sweet baby boy is 6 weeks old. I can't believe its been six weeks already since that beautiful day he came into our lives.
I wanted to share some of his bright eyed, 6 weeks pics I took of him today with us. He's getting so big.

Also today was my first day back to work. I did cry 3 times, Once this morning when I had to tell Coop goodbye, then again right after he left with his daddy to go to Nana's. Then once more when I got to work. My co-worker asked me how I felt leaving him and I burst into tears. But after that I had a good day. He did great at Nana's and we both made it through the day. Everyone at work was really nice. They were all so happy and sweet to me telling me how glad they were that I was back. That made me feel good and I was happy to see them all. I did miss my sweet boy all day though.

I hope you all had a nice Wednesday.

Check out Lukes costume, isn't that adorable?

If you were to ask me a couple of weeks ago how I am going to handle going back to work I would have said I am sad but excited to get back to a schedule where I have to wake up, get dressed, do things outside the house. But fast forward to this weekend and my feelings have changed. Of course I'm still going back to work. With all the IVF bills and the countless fertility drugs. I really have to if we ever want to pay them off and if I ever want to try again for a second child in the next 5 years. So on Wednesday my maternity leave is up and I will be going back. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited to see my coworkers and enjoy getting out of the house every day but I will miss my little Cooper so much words can't describe my hearts ache that I feel right now thinking about leaving him. I'm starting to feel upset at the thought of someone else being with my son all day long and not me. I know what helps him calm down quickly, I know what makes him happy and how to fix things for him. I just hate the thought that he could be upset and I'm not there. I know it won't take long for my aunt and my nana (they are watching him) to figure him out and figure out what works but Its still not me and that makes me so sad. I know I'll be just fine and so will he but I will sure miss him and our moments we've had these past six weeks. He is my little sweet and tiny and I love him so much. So please keep us in your prayers for a nice transition for us both this week.

This weekend I had a great time with friends. Saturday during the day we went to my friends sons first birthday party. It was a costume party for the kids and her son was Yoda, SO CUTE. She dressed up to but I'm not sure who she was. We had a girls night Saturday night and it was really fun. At the end of the night all the girls came to my house to see Cooper, Everyone was really missing him. Especially me.
Then today we went to lunch with one of my husbands really good friends. They have known each other since they were kids and now my husband Julian and his friend Justin both have sons. Ours is two weeks older then theres. Its crazy though. Who would have thought that they would have boys so close in age when they were fifteen years old riding bikes and causing trouble. So I added a pic of our little Cooper and there son Landon. So cute.

So much has happened in the past 24-48 hours. Our poor Cooper has been suffering severely from this acid reflux problem but we are in the process of figuring out just how to fix him up. I'm stressed and feeling terrible for him and he's upset but we are working on it. In addition we are also having a test done to assure us that this is acid reflux and not a twisted tummy problem. That will just secure all of our feelings so we know we are on the right track. I'm ready to have all of this figured out and I truly appreciate all your suggested you guys offered to us. We have discussed many of these options with our pedi. I'll let you all know what ends up working for us. Please pray for Coop though. Its heartbreaking as many of you know to see your child in pain.

On a brighter note, We had a wonderful weekend with my family this past weekend. I was able to snap a few shots of my hubby and I and our niece and my brother holding Cooper. In case I've never mentioned this I have two brothers, One younger and one older. They are both amazing and I love them very much. My older brother is married and has a little girl. My parents are wonderful also. We have a very close family and going to see them will hopefully become something that Cooper truly enjoys and looks forward to as much as I do. Here are a few pis from our fun weekend.

Also I posted a pic of Cooper in his bath tonight. He was so calm and cute and he had this crazy stare going on. My hubby and I just laughed. He's so cute.
I hope all of you ladies are good.

Lazy days

Today has to have been one of the most lazy days we have had since Cooper was born. We (Coop and I) woke up at 8:00 and he ate, then we drifted off to sleep again and were both not officially awake until about 11:00. I rolled out of bed and went and got him, changed his diaper and fed him again. Then we both sat on the couch and watched dvr'd shows all day it seemed. I did get the 75 birth announcements addressed and ready to send out finally today. That's probably the only thing we did productive all day long. But yet I don't care, because I'm enjoying every little second of special time I have with my son. On a week from Wednesday I go back to work and although I miss the schedule of getting up and getting dressed and feeling productive, I'm already missing seeing my sweet boy all day every day. I will miss him so much.

Lately I've started to see certain things that make him calm and happy that only seem to work if mommy does them. In a way that makes me really feel good. We have a special bond and he knows who I am and he is truly comforted by me. That's a great feeling. Sometimes when he gets really fussy and no one else can seem to calm him all I have to do is take him and hold him stomach first on my chest and I lightly run my hand over his hair and he seems content and "fixed" immediately. Its so sweet and he just cuddles into me, I love it. Another thing is when we can't get him to fall asleep, sometimes the only thing that will work even if he's fussy is for me to lay down next to him. I put him on his side and I lay on my side with my nose touching his and he seems instantly better. He will drift off to sleep very quickly when I do this. Its so sweet to know that having mommies nose touching his and being that close to each other makes him comfortable and calm. I just love my little guy so much.
I don't want to take all the credit away from his daddy however. He seems to do a pretty good job of calming him too. He sure does love his mommy and daddy.

Parenthood is the best, even when your exhausted and tired and run down. These sweet little things and moments still make your heart skip a beat. So special!

I hope your all doing good today.
