I FELL!

Yesterday after work, I went outside to move our sprinkler and when backing up in the wet grass somehow managed to slip. Of course I didn't land in the grass I fell backwards right onto the cement sidewalk landing hard. I landed on my left arm first jarring my shoulder and scraping my elbow up and then somehow came crashing down on my right hip really hard. It hurt so bad, I immediately burst into tears. I peeled myself off the ground with water now hitting me in the face (the sprinkler was still on). and mud stuck all down my side, blood all over my elbow. I was such a mess. I went inside and called my husband and cried as I told him what had happened. He wasn't at home.
Of course I was worried about the baby and this being my first pregnancy wasn't sure if this could hurt him or not so I called my mom. She encouraged me to just call the after hours number and have my doctor call me just to be on the safe side. I did and my doc called me. He was perfectly nice and he asked some questions but in the end he said "you and the baby will be just fine, don't worry". I felt like such a HUGE dork! Here I am mascara all down my face my whole body looked a mess and my husband comes in the door. (He had left his shop as soon as I had called him, although I told him I was fine).
Anyways, It was embarrassing, painful and scary because I was so worried. I'm fine, sore though but fine today. I'm not usually so clumsy but I guess being pregnant throws your balance off and you really don't realize it.

I go to the doctor on Friday again and I think I will be better when I see the baby again. But for now I have to recuperate from my spill.

Yikes, glad you (and baby) are ok. My mom said she fell down the stairs when pregnant with my sister and she was fine. The have a lot of protection in there.

I'm glad you're both okay! It's crazy how quickly accidents happen, isn't it? Take it easy and I hope your elbow is feeling better soon!

Oh no! That is so scary. I can relate...I feel down a flight of stairs when I was 23 weeks pregnant. It's so so scary for us, but our babies are so well protected thanks to God's amazing engineering. I'm glad you're OK and I hope you continue to heal well.

So happy that you are OK! Your blog and you are adorable!

I was wondering if you'd be interested in sharing some of your insight with other moms to be. Can you email me at info@thebabycove.com to talk more?

Oh dear! This happens and it is so scary when it occurs! I am glad to hear that baby and you are alright, although I know you will be relieved after you upcoming appt for that extra reassurance!

I fell down the stairs at 39 weeks with Benjamin carrying a 2-year old on one hip and a drinking glass in the other. I was really close to the bottom (only 2 stairs away), but misjudged where I was at...or maybe it was pregnancy brain...or maybe mommy/toddler brain, who knows, but for some strange reason I thought I was on the last step and just stepped out and off into mid-air.

Believe it or not, the drinking glass didn't break...neither did the 2-year old or my water! LOL

Take care, rest up, use a heating pad or ice pack if necessary!

Blessings to you,
Valerie

I found your cute blog from Two Kids a Minivan and a lot of Love. This is probably saying it late but Congrats on getting pregnant. You have such a cute baby bump. I hope you have a great pregnancy and a healthy baby!! Don't worry about being clumsy sometimes, it just comes with pregnancy. Glad you are okay.
